Notts: Police launch gun amnesty
The amnesty will be held between 3rd-17th March and aims to provide members of the community with a safe place to dispose of unlawfully held weapons.
The Force said these are often overlooked and forgotten in people’s homes, but those surrendering weapons during the amnesty will not face prosecution for illegal possession and can remain anonymous.

Det Chf Insp Mick Luke said: “Gun crime in Notts has fallen since the last amnesty we held back in 2004, which is a result of continued efforts from the Force and our partners.”
“There was one fatal shooting last year and it was one death too many- we want as many weapons as possible and would encourage people to hand them in.”
They will then be advised on how to best transport the weapon responsibly from home to the police station.
