Gainsborough man charged with robbery, assault and possession of a weapon

A 31-year-old Gainsborough man has been charged with robbery, assault and being in the possession of a weapon in relation to a robbery on Heapham Road, Gainsborough.

Dean Roberts, of Apley Close, Gainsborough, has been charged with theft twice, assault by beating, robbery, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The victim was walking to work, in the direction of the town centre at 7am on 18 July, when he was approached by another man.

A police spokesman said: "The man, who was described as wearing a grey hooded top, with a face mask or scarf covering the lower half of his face, and riding a BMX cycle, took the victims phone, cigarettes and bank card. The phone has now been found.

"It was reported that the man produced a knife while demanding money from the victim."
