The Overtones are returning to Lincolnshire just in time for Christmas.
The band will make their third trip to The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe on Sunday, December 11, following two earlier sold-out shows
The Overtones are torchbearers for flat-out fantastic singing, as much as a throwback to the timeless appeal of doo-wop and Motown as they are to modern day R&B and pop.
They have enjoyed a succession of major achievements, including performing in front of 250,000 people at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, appearing at the Festival of Remembrance and hitting London’s Hyde Park for major festival shows at BT London Live and British Summer Time.
Celebrating the most wonderful time of the year, with a stocking rammed full of Christmas crackers, in the shape of good old classics such as White Christmas’, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and Let It Snow, this will end a vintage year for the group.
The Overtones’ rise to the top has been remarkable.
After failing to make the final cut for the X Factor in 2009 as the four-piece Lexi Joe, Mark Franks, Mike Crawshaw, Darren Everest and Timmy Matley met Lachie Chapman, discovered similar tastes in music and reformed themselves as a five-piece band, under the name of The Overtones.
Mark then had the idea of starting a painting and decorating company so that the five could practice together while working.
It was while painting a shop near Oxford Street in London that the band were discovered by a talent scout whilst they were singing the song The Longest Time.
They have since appeared on shows like Dancing On Ice, Britain’s Got More Talent, This Morning, The Xtra Factor and Red Or Black? as well as touring with the likes of Peter Andre and Sir Cliff Richard.
Their debut album, Good Ol’ Fashioned Love (2010) reached number four in the UK charts and was certified platinum in both the UK and Ireland.
The follow-up, Higher (2012) made number six and was certified gold in the UK.
Their third release, Saturday Night At The Movies (2013) reached number five and the run of album successes continued last year when Sweet Soul Music (2015) made it four top 10 albums in a row when it reached number eight.
Tickets for their Baths hall Christmas show are £99 (VIP), £38.50, £29.50 and £22.50 (booking fee may apply). and available now from the box office on 0844 8542776 or online at www.bathshall.co.uk
