Matthew Bourne’s internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning dance thriller The Car Man is coming to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield next month.
Loosely based on Bizet’s popular opera, the action is transported from the familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory, to a greasy garage-diner in 1960’s America where the dreams and passions of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome stranger.
Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.
A combination of one of the most instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures’ repertoire and Bourne’s vivid storytelling, creates a dangerous and uncompromising vision of small-town America.
The show runs at the Lyceum from 23rd-27th June.
Tickets priced £18-£37 are available now from the Box Office on 0114 2496000 or online at www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
