Gainsborough actor Tim Snell is lining up for the Hospital Players next week in Richard Harris’ cricketing comedy Outside Edge.

Team captain Roger is desperately trying to assemble his cricket team which includes all-rounder Bob, ageing lothario Dennis, demon spinner Kevin and self-obsessed batsman Alex, who Tim is playing.

Roger’s long-suffering wife, Miriam, is also equally desperate to ensure her famed cricket tea is up to scratch.

Unfortunately they had not reckoned on the interference, hysterics and mayhem of the other wives and girlfriends.

Tim said: “I’m really enjoying playing my character Alex.

“He is a very self-centred person and almost all of the time he’s focused on no-one but himself.

“All his interactions with every other character seem to always be drawing more attention to himself.

“The fact he’s actually a good cricketer doesn’t help, although that’s the whole reason why all the other characters tolerate him so much.”

The play is at the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe from Tuesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 28
