Opera North are back at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre next week with their Big Sing.

And this time, their them is Myths & Legends.

Telling the story of the creation of the world according to the Icelandic Eddas, this brilliant cycle of songs uses Scandinavian folk music specially arranged for professional chorus, school choirs and piano by Justin Doyle.

Myths & Legends tells the story of how it might have been without a big bang, as it journeys through the epic stories that inspired Wagner’s Ring Cycle and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

Travel through hot and cold worlds, witness fights between giants and Nordic gods, stand in the giant golden halls of Asgard and see horse-drawn chariots pull the moon and sun into their places in the sky.

The Chorus of Opera North performs alongside 140 local school children from David Ross Educational Trust schools.

Opera North’s Big Sing is supported by The Winship Foundation and The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust. Opera North Education is supported by the Whitaker Charitable Trust and the Opera North Future Fund.

The show is on Thursday, July 7 at 6pm.

Tickets are £2 on 01522 837600 or online at www.lpac.co.uk
