FANS of legendary indie icons The Smiths are in for a treat as a critically-acclaimed play based on the bands’ music returns to the stage in Lincoln.
Half A Person - My Life As Told By The Smiths is the story of William, a young man obsessed by The Smiths who lives for coffee, tight jeans and the unrequited love he has for fellow Smiths fan Salome. On a journey that explores the ideas of love, loss and friendship, Half A Person is a play to laugh, cry and sing along to.
Having sold out two performances at the Drill Hall earlier this year, Cross Cut are back.
Standard reporter Andrew Trendell said of the play: “The Smiths’ music lends itself to ideas of alienation, so it’s only fitting that this is a one-man show, and if ever there was an actor to fill the stage it’s Joe Murray - a young talent whose performance proves utterly engaging from start to finish.”
“Rather than mimic Morrissey, Murray pays tribute by effectively using the music to pin-point landmarks in the emotional journey of a young man.”
Half a Person: My Life as Told by The Smiths will be at Lincoln Drill Hall: 20th - 21st October.
Tickets are £8.50 and available by calling 01522 873894 or visiting www.lincolndrillhall.com.
