Acclaimed new comedy star James Acaster brings his new stand-up tour Relentless to Lincoln’s Drill Hall later this year.
A fixture at the Edinburgh Festival, James Acaster has quickly established himself as one of the most distinctive and brilliant young comedians of his generation.
He has notched up a plethora of award nominations, including the Foster’s Best Comedy Show at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Edinburgh Fringe festivals.
He also won the Best International Show Award at the 2014 New Zealand International Comedy Festival.
The honours have continued this year with Chortle Awards for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Show.
As well as his glowing stand-up career, James has made several television appearances with the likes of Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Mock The Week (BBC Two), 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Nevermind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two) and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave), Chris Addison’s Show and Tell (E4), Live at The Comedy Store (Paramount) and Sweat The Small Stuff (BBC Three).
Additionally his radio appearances also including a regular guest spot on fellow comic Josh Widdicombe’s XFM show and writing and presenting his own show, Findings, for BBC Radio 4.
James got into comedy almost by accident as he opted to try it while deciding what he actually wanted to do as a career after his forray into music with local bands in his native Northamptonshire came to an end.
In 2009, he performed in a show at the Edinburgh festival fringe with fellow comedians Josh Widdicombe and Nick Helm.
The success of these shows led to him supporting Josie Long on tour in 2010 and in 2011 he supported Milton Jones on tour.
He then began to come to mainstream notice with his 2012 Edinburgh show Prompt, followed by Lawnmower (2013) and then Recognise (2014), all of which were critically-acclaimed and award-nominated.
His new show Relentless focuses on James’s time spent during jury service for a murder trial and comes on tour following another stint at this year’s Edinburgh Festival.
His Drill Hall appearance is on 3rd October. Tickets are available now from the box office on 01522 873894 or online at www.lincolndrillhall.com
