A musical bonanza of hit tunes from the era of petticoats and quiffs is coming your way to get you in the mood for summer – and the audience is encouraged to sing along.
A new concert production kicks off its UK tour this summer and visits Lincoln Theatre Royal on June 11.
Summer Dreaming is a brand new homage to a bygone era celebrating the iconic music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Musical theatre stalwart Julian Essex-Spurrier continues to lead the production having played numerous iconic leading roles including Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever, Rocky in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Riff in West Side Story and Rusty in Starlight Express.
Relive the good old days with the Summer Dreaming gang as they take you back to a time of jiving, soda shops and high school hops, featuring the music of The Shangri-Las, Frankie Avalon, Connie Francis, Elvis, Neil Sedaka, Peggy Lee, The Drifters, Patsy Cline, Ben E King, The Temptations, Lulu, Bill Haley, Nancy Sinatra, Grease and more.
Summer Dreaming is a fully interactive extravaganza featuring authentic costumes and iconic dance moves, so find your inner teddy boy or girl, and sing along.
Paul Spicer, the show’s director, said: “There’s nothing better than being able to sit back and immerse yourself in the music that you love, and it’s perfection when the performers are world class.
“We specialise in what we call experience theatre.
“We don’t want our audience to just sit and watch.
“We want them completely involved in the action, and so we design our productions very carefully, keeping this in mind.
“We’re celebrating iconic music from movies, musicals and iconic artists of the 50’s and 60’s, performed live on stage, fully choreographed, steeped in nostalgia.
“It’s the audience who are the most important people in the room, and we take them on an incredible journey.”
Tickets for the Lincoln Theatre Royal date cost £20 or £18 for concessions.
They are available from the theatre’s website at www.lincolntheatreroyal.com, or the box office on 01522 519999.
