The East Yorkshire Motor Services Band (EYMS) will again be spreading Christmas cheer in a series of festive concerts throughout the region next month.
The band will mix seasonal music and carols along with other favourites at six venues during December, including Trinity Arts Centre in Gainsborough and the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe.
The EYMS, hailed in some quarters as the most entertaining band in the UK’, was formed in 1989 and quickly achieved a status which sees them today competing in the same sphere as bands with more illustrious history, including famous names like the Brighouse & Rastrick, Grimethorpe Colliery and Black Dyke Mills bands.
As well as several North of England titles, they won the Senior Cup at Blackpool in 2002 and 2008, becoming the 2008 and 2009 Kippax Entertainment champions.
They were also champions at this year’s Bolsover Festival of Brass, the third time in four years they have won the title.
The band toured the Loire Valley in 2009 to compete in the French Open Championships, winning the march contest.
In 2011 the band were awarded the Most Entertaining Band prize at the Butlins National Mineworkers Open Brass Band Festival
The band, and its conductor Alan Morrison, will be at Trinity Arts Centre on Saturday, December 19.
This will be the band’s second festive appearance at the venue and follows on from their successful spring concerts.
Tickets are £9 and are available from the box office on 01427 676655 or online at www.trinityrts.co.uk
“Prompt booking is recommended for this event as tickets are already being sold at a rapid rate,” commented a band spokesman.
The following evening Sunday, December 20 is the band’s sixth and final Christmas concert of 2015, at the Baths Hall.
The is event will also feature the Scunthorpe Choral Society, and the Scunthorpe Cooperative Junior Choir – the 2009 BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year.
