Lea Park’s second team continued their promising start to the season with a winning draw at Milton.

Lea won the toss and elected to bat, Jake Hutchinson and Michael Overson opening with intent.

Hutchinson departed after trying one expansive drive too many, nicking to the keeper.

Matt Saunders came and went quickly, leaving Lea at 45-2.

However, Overson (107) peppered the leg side boundary on his way to his maiden century, while Dominic Bolderson showed he has a very bright future, remaining unbeaten on 87 as Lea closed on 236-4.

In reply, Milton began swiftly, before Den Law struck to remove Wager and Graham Ward claimed Taylor.

Jim Roberts added another wicket to his season’s tally, bowling Soper for 45 while Ward (2-44) took another with a catch off his own bowling.

Milton were able to hold on with 71-year-old Barry Johnson carrying his bat for 86.

Lea Park II host Cuckney on Saturday.
