Young duo supported by Sporting Club

Gainsborough Sporting Club held their penultimate event for the current season at the Weston Rooms on 7th March, when they dished out £250 cheques to local sports folk.

Zac Metcalfe, a 14-year-old cricketer who plays for Marshalls, Upton and Kexby and Lincolnshire Under 14s, was first to receive the cash, presented by guest speaker for the evening David Graveney OBE.

Upton and Kexby Cricket Club were also given funding, to help purchase new practice nets.

And 16-year-old Heather Cooke, an athlete who has already represented the North East in the Student Games and recently competed in five events in the English Athletics Championships at Sheffield, was also presented with a cheque.

The next and final event of the season is on Friday 11th April when the guest speaker is former Leeds and Arsenal John Lukic.
