A MASSIVE win for Lincolnshire.

Lethal Lincolnshire have soared to the top of the Premier Division of the British Inter-Counties Darts Championship after a massive 26-10 victory over Cambridgeshire.

There was little sign of what was to come when the match opened with ladies’ B team going 3-0 down before staging a fightback to draw 3-3 thanks to wins from Dawn Barnard, Layla Bontoft and Lindsey Wingell, who averaged 16.49.

But then Lincolnshire took control with one of the finest performances by the men’s B team in the county’s history. They triumphed 10-2 against seasoned opponents, with Shane Lowe, Nathan Smith, Marty Richards, Rob Hewson, Steve Hamill, Jon Bywater, Duncan Hunt and debutants Kev Tomlinson and Dean Allsopp all victorious, although the man-of-the-match award went to Andy Bingham, who owned the stage with a single dart average of 26.72.

Starting the second day’s play with a 13-5 lead, Lincolnshire tightened their grip when the ladies’ A team triumphed 4-2. Both Dawn Armstrong and Heather Lodge edged home 3-2, as did captain Paula Jacklin, who threw a 180 and finished with an average of 22.90.

The memorable display was topped by the men’s A team, who romped home 9-3, courtesy of Gary Blades, Chris Fidler, Simon Stainton, Jack Watt, Adam Beck, Dean Baker, man-of-the-match Lloyd Pennell (31.78 average), Sam Hewson and Micky Taylor with his first A team success.
