The last two weeks have proved quite eventful for the members of Trent Valley Road Club with riders taking part in various competitive and non-competitive events.
Rob Webster followed his British Cycling debut ride by taking 12th place from 50 at the Pedalpushers Circuit Race hosted by Witham Wheelers at RAF Barkston Heath on 5th April.
The racer also made his TLI Road Race debut on 6th April, but unfortunately crashed out of the event in wet conditions on the first lap and failed to finish the race.
On Sunday 13th April Darren Dickinson, Darrell Stacey and Andrew Codd participated in the Paul Kirk Memorial Sportive.
They completed 100 miles of riding in a very impressive 5 hours and 36 minutes.
Also well attended on Sunday 13th April was the club’s Sunday Social ride which attracted 12 riders both new and old.
The 42 mile circuit passed through Newton on Trent, Thorney and Saxilby before returning to Gainsborough.
The club’s Time Trial League started on 1st April.
Now two races in both Andy Codd and Rob Webster are leading the Aero and Standard Bike leagues respectively.
On Sunday 20th April Trent Valley Road Club will host two events aimed directly at newcomers to the sport.
Starting at 9am from Costa Coffee the club will embark on a short 20 mile social ride on the quiet back roads of the Trent Valley.
The ride pace will be dictated by the slowest rider and no one will get left behind.
Also on Sunday April 20th the club will host a short five-mile time trial.
This event is a great opportunity for those cyclists who have always wanted to try racing but never wanted to mix it up with more experienced riders.
All are welcome and will be given guidance for both come and try it events by the clubs helpful team.
