Trio of local cyclists in Scunthorpe race

Three Gainsborough cyclists competed in Scunthorpe Road Club’s open 19-mile race at the weekend.

Andy Lewin and Julian Hesp (Viking Velo), and Alan Huntley (Trent Valley) all performed extremely well on the circuit, which began in Scotter, proceeded south along the Trent Bank to Morton, before returning north through Laughton woods finishing at Susworth.

Andy Lewin finished second with a time of 38.42 and his team-mate Julian Hesp took third with 39.14.

The winner was Scunthorpe Polytechnic rider Richard Walker who rode 37.29.

Alan Huntley recorded 41.07 which was good enough to place him second in the handicap race.
