The Gainsborough and District Table Tennis League has come to a conclusion, with Blitz Chunky Monkeys taking the Division One title, and Gainsborough Youth Methodists Batmen the Division Two title.
There were two notable games in the last week of the season and that was the Batmen losing their first game of the season to second place Blitz Eagles 8-2, and Blues Club Dynamics winning their first point of the season against Blues Club Beacons.
They lost 7-3 but that was enough to ensure that they did not finish on zero points.
Mark Ayris played well to win two games to help his side to that vital point.
The final of the Calcutta Cup took place this week between Blues Club Knights and the ever improving Blitz Eagles.
The Knights had a 110-point start but it just wasn’t enough as they lost 367-359.
The Eagles have capped off a very good season and will be the team to beat next year if they keep the same team in Division Two.
