The Staintons, known as Team SaS, have been recognised by the Formula Sidecar Racing Association (FSRA), which is the organisation that oversees the sport.

The couple have just completed their first season in the FSRA British F2 Cup competition, and their achievements, loyalty and perseverance throughout the year have been rewarded by the presentation to them of the FSRA Committee Cup.

Jen explained: “The award is chosen annually by members of the FSRA committee and was won by Lee Crawford in the two previous campaigns.

“The reasons they felt we were the most deserving in 2017 was for our enthusiasm in coming into the series, especially when you consider our initial doubts over how competitive we felt we would be.

“The committee were impressed by the fact that we excelled and gained podium places, while always appearing professional on and off the track.

“They particularly liked us for coming back from our big crash at Cadwell Park to complete the remainder of the season.

“The Committee Cup is usually a trophy which they have to debate over, but several committee members had nominated us and it was agreed that we were deserved recipients. The decision was unanimous.”

Jubilant Jen went on: “It was totally unexpected and an honour to have been chosen for this award from a very competitive field of teams. We were overwhelmed that we were chosen.

“Our thanks go to all of the FSRA committee for this. Their support and faith in us has meant everything. Participating in the championship this year has been the best decision we have made, and we could not be more grateful to the club, sponsors, organisers and fellow teams. It is great for our sponsors to be able to bring this award home.”

The Staintons will shortly take part in some pre-season testing before the opening round of the 2018 championship which takes place at Croft over the weekend of April 7 and 8.
