Pete meets Way of the Roses challenge

Phoenix Cycling Club rider Pete Comerford successfully completed the gruelling 170-mile Way of the Roses challenge from Morecambe to Bridlington.

This involved conquering some very steep hills and riding in the dark on unlit country road and tracks.

He left Morecambe at 6.30am and arrived in Bridlington at 3.55am the following morning.

His challenge was to do this in 24 hours, and he completed it in 21 hours and 25 minutes which included all his feed stations and comfort stops.

Most riders do this in groups and over two to three days, so this was some achievement.

He couldn’t have done it without Jon Findley, who was his support and encouragement all the way. Pete did this for Phoenix Club’s chosen charity When You Wish Upon A Star - anyone still wishing to sponsor Pete for this achievement can contact him on 01724 761383 or 07539 836780.
