Nicholson leads Aegir speed judging standings after first race

Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club’s first round of their speed judging contest took place on the Laughton Lane-East Stockwirth course.

The morning was frosty with a slight breeze and Paul Reynolds was time keeper.

The cyclists were set off at one minute intervals to ride the circuit, a 5.5 mile circular route.

They departed Roseway making their way to Laughton Lane near the timber yard, the starting point of course.

Results: 1st place 6pts Daniel Nicholson (chose 3 laps in 82 minutes, his time was 1 minute 34 seconds fast); 2nd 5pts Mark Clark (chose 2 laps in 62:30, his time was 3:13 fast); 3rd 4pts Dave Day (chose 3 laps in 70 minutes, his time was 4:54 slow); 4th 3pts Trevor Halstead (chose 4 laps in 75 minutes, his time was 14:00 slow.

Nicholson is the early leader of the points standings.

Next week’s event is a leisure ride on Sunday 29th November.

Riders should meet at Roseway in Gainsborough at 9.20am.

New riders are welcome, membership of a cycling club is not required.

The ride will be at a sociable speed to suit all riders.
