A Gainsborough table tennis club is hoping to spread its wings in the coming year, thanks to a funding boost.
Blitz Table Tennis Club, led by head coahc Paul Johnson, have received cash that will help them establish and maintain satellite clubs in the Gainsborough, Doncaster and Scunthorpe areas.
The Blitz coaches will be sharing their experience by coaching children in eight schools as they bid to increase sporting participation in tthe region’s youngsters.
It is hoped that by promoting the game in schools it will act as a springboard to attract more players into the club to take part in local leagues and also represent the club in national tournaments in the future.
Blitz will be running several teams in the Gainsborough League, as well as having teams represent them in junior, senior and veteran’s British League.

His sister Amy, 14, carried her good form ino the event by reaching the semi-finals of the cadet girls competition.
