Sunday marked another big day in the local cycling calendar as Trent Valley Road Club and Stanley Hunt Jewellers hosted a warm-up event for the imminent Tour de France.

Festina watches sponsored the event with eye catching prizes, including two pairs of VIP tickets for the Grand Depart and a limited edition Festina cycling jersey – these prizes could not be bought and would be priceless for cycling fans.

The main competition was for the two set of tickets and the winner would be decided by the distance they achieved on a static bike over a two minute interval.

The winners will be announced on Thursday of this week.

Trent Valley Road Club, Festina Watches and Stanley Hunt Jewellers would like to thank everyone who took part and made the day so enjoyable.

In other TVRC club news Andy Codd continued his dominance over the Cycle Barn Standard Aero Time Trial league.

He posted a 01:02:04 for the 25 mile event on Tuesday July 24th.

Paul Brownless completed the distance in 01:03:11.

Darren Dickinson finished first in the Cycle Barn Non Aero Time Trial League with a time of 01:09:30, closely followed by Paul Keating who clocked up a 01:09:55.

On Thursday 3rd July the club will be in action again at Lincolnshire Show Ground for the Cycle Barn TLI Circuit Racing League.

This is open to all club members and is a great opportunity to get in to road racing.

Held at Lincolnshire Show Ground on closed roads it’s a very fun and fast event.

As well as competitive races, Trent Valley Road Club hold a Sunday social ride each week, which progresses at the slowest rider’s pace and allows newcomers to get tips and hints.

The social rides leave Costa Coffee at Marshalls Yard at 9am on Sundays.
