This year’s Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club Annual Christmas nine attracted five competitors, a few spectators and officials.
The riders were from a cross section of the club and touring and racing bikes were used.
The morning was cold with a strong south wind that made the last section of the race difficult.
Hedley Stennett. and Paul Reynolds set the riders off at minute intervals to ride the nine mile anti-clockwise circuit, Mark Clark marshalled the event.
Starting on the Belt Road the route made it’s way onto the B1433, left along Thorndike Way, Corringham Road (A631), left along Pilham Lane.
After passing through Pilham it was left onto Pilham Lane to join the A159 turning left down Wharton Hill to return to Gainsborough, where the circuit turned left up the steep climb of Thonock Hill to the finish just past the Golf Club.
The full results and times were:
1st Trevor Halstead 31minutes 58 seconds, 2nd Daniel Nicholson 36 minutes 01 seconds, 3rd Dave Day36minutes 34 seconds, 4th Dave Chaffey 37 minutes 34seconds.
Private Trials (Non Club Members)
The fastest rider was Andy Lewin of Viking Vello his time was 25 minutes 42 seconds.
After the event a group of Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club members enjoyed a Christmas get together and lunch at The Trent Port (Crown Carvery).
