Gainsborough’s Nev Jones Racing sidecar team took their first win of 2015 at Oulton Park on Saturday with novice passenger, Upton’s Giles Stainton, experiencing his first ever victory after only taking up the sport in March.
The day didn’t start too well for the Jones and Stainton, with the Lincoln Refrigeration backed Suzuki 600 spinning off the circuit on the first lap of the qualifying race, but they worked their way back up to fifth, taking a third row grid position for the start of the championship race.
When the lights went out, Jones and Stainton were quick to capitalise on a good start, moving up to fourth place and tucking in behind the the leading crews.
There was little to choose between all three F2 outfits and the solitary F1 outfit throughout, but when the results came through, it confirmed Jones and Stainton had been awarded the F2 class win by just 0.4 seconds.
The result moves the duo up to third place in the NGRRC championship standings after five rounds.
Their next appearance will be at Scotland’s East Fortune circuit on 23rd and 24th May, and you can follow their season on Nev Jones Racing’s facebook page.
