The banks of the River Trent in Nottingham, rather than Gainsborough, were the location of the main Strider activity at the weekend as eight runners took part in the Nottingham half marathon.
The highest placed Strider was Jonathan Drake, who marked his final appearance for the club by finishing 91st out of 7,167 runners in 1:22:24.
Wayne Greenfield recorded 1:24;30, a personal best by three minutes.
Craig Ward’s 1:30;34 was a two minute PB.
Newcomers to the distance, Craig Williamson and Emma Housham, were satisfied with their 1:56:43 and 2:49:54.
The Strider contingent was completed by Hanna Bennett [1:53:51], Mick Wood [1:58:50] and Vikki Hearn [2:03:31].
Four others completed a half marathon in the Isle of Axholme, where Mat Huteson’s 1:22:09 finish placed him 11th and gave him an eight minute PB.
Phil Marsland had his best run of 2015, completing the course in 1:30, while Nigel Bowler’s 1:34 was his best time for five years.
Gary Atkinson missed a season’s best by just 13 seconds with 1:44:34.
The club’s 10k expert, Neil Broughton, ventured to Sheffield for the Morrison’s Great Yorkshire run, his 16th race of the year resulting in a 57:08 time.
In the weekends’ parkruns Jasper Humphries, ranked 86th in the UK for his agr group, was the first Strider to finish at Gainsborough in a new PB time of 23:06.
Marcus Joy, Dale Swinton, Sarah Keates, Jonathan Jarman and Sara Kelsey all improved their previous best times.
Emma Humphries, running with son Joe, was the first lady finisher for the second time.
The Strider contingent was completed by Stephen Toward, Benjamin Guilliatt and Rachel Haldenby.
Over at Scunthorpe parkrun, Norman Hindley crossed the line after just over 23 minutes.
The next Junior training session will be at Trent Valley Academy at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
For seniors, the next Thursday session will start from Queen Elizabeth High School at 6.30pm while the Tuesday session will start from DW Sport at 7.15 pm.
