SEVENTY judokas from around the country gathered at West Lindsey Leisure Centre last week, for a competition hosted by Whiteswood Lane Judo Club.

Juniors and seniors from Dover, Cambridge, Nottinghamshire, Scunthorpe, Skegness, Sturton and Gainsborough were in action.

Whiteswood Lane, inset, won a total of eight trophies, as golds went to Caitlin Bedford, Dylan Hodgson, Kieron Smythe and Jack Hodgson.

Anni Jo, Ellen McGibbon and Bertie Collins won silver, while a bronze went to Callum Gibson.

Sturton Judo Club, main picture, also won eight, with golds for Molly Snee, Emma Butler and Greg Burton.

Silvers went to Megan Wright, Terri Birkett and Sam Wilcox, and Michelle Birkett and Issac Powell won bronze.

The event was sponsored by the Everyone Active group and the trophies were supplied by County Cups in Lincoln.

Training in Gainsborough is held on Monday at West Lindsey Leisure Centre, beginners 6pm-7pm, junior and seniors 7pm-8.30pm, £2 per session.

Training in Sturton is on Thursday at Sturton Village Hall, beginners 6pm-7pm, junior and seniors 7pm-8.30pm, £1.50 per session.
