Jason Clout celebrated his first victory of the season for Phoenix Cycling Club in the latest combined Gainsborough time trial.
A ten-mile course, which started at Knaith and wended its way to Torksey before finishing in Lea, was a real challenge for the riders on a warm but windy evening.
But Clout clocked a time of 27.39 minutes to head a contingent of three Phoenix riders, which also included Kevin Smart (31.18) and Carol Smart (40.37).
The fastest time overall was recorded by Andy Lewin, who raced home in 22.25 minutes for the Viking Velo club. Teammates Phil Burton (26.27) and Chris Warrilow (27.43) also completed the trial, but Jud Parker did not finish.
Times recorded by Trent Valley Road Club were: Andy Codd 23.12, Paul Brownless 23.53, Paul Pycroft 25.23, Shaun Pycroft 25.36, Ron Gregory 26.03, Steve Cockerham 26.31, Paul Freeman 27.04 and Mike Overton 30.51. Other riders included Kev Lovett (Lincsquad) 26.33, Stuart Grocock (Lincsquad) 27.01 and Trevor Halstead (Aegir CC) 29.58.
The next time trial is on Tuesday 21st July, comprising 15 miles and eight miles and starting at 7 pm from Laughton Lane.
Meanwhile five intrepid Phoenix riders, Leanne Beardall, Joanne Findley, Jon Findley, Kevin Smart and Pete Comerford, are tackling the Tiger Ross Sportive marathon event, over 100K or 100 miles, starting near Grimsby on Sunday 2nd August.
