Table tennis players from across the region flocked to a training camp at Gainsborough’s Blitz Club, in preparation for the Under 11 to 14 national qualifiers.
The camp was run by professional table tennis coach Paul Johnson.
He was delighted with the level of skill on display as local youngsters took on rivals from other clubs.
“The camp has been really successful and all players have worked extremely hard,” he said.
“The standard of training has been pretty good, and all players have made good improvements to certain areas of their game.”
“With some of the club’s players already qualified for the national finals, due to be played at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on 6th June, it was a good opportunity to refine their technique against different players.”
“Players have come from Grantham, Grimsby and Nottingham to attend this camp, so it has been a good opportunity for our players to train with different people, and play against different styles.”
Blitz Table Tennis club, based at the Gainsborough Academy, is open twice a week to all members of the public and is open every week from now right up until Christmas.
