Gainsborough All Blacks were beaten 29-10 in the RFU Midlands Junior Vase by higher league visitors Skegness.
The All Blacks, with players missing, were slow to start and conceded a try early on.
Skegness dominated the first half and secured a 22-0 lead at half-time.
After a stern talking to at half-time by coach Turtle and club captain Goude the All Blacks came out a different team and scored two unconverted tries.
Skegness having had their feather ruffled, came back at the All Blacks and went on to score the final try of the game.
Man of the Match was split between debutant Kieran Locking and Matthew Jones.
Saturday sees the All Blacks back in league action with an away trip to Ollerton.
