Aegir season off to a fine start with time trial

Sunday was the start of Gainsborough Aegir Cycling club’s racing season.

The club held two events in the morning, a leisure ride to Marton and a five mile time trial starting and finishing in Marton.

The15 mile leisure ride was at a sociable speed, it was enjoyed by Trevor Halstead, Dave Walker, Dave Chaffey, Pete Hanks, Colin Smith, Daniel Nicholson and George Carnall.

The time trail attracted 12 riders, with a course that started in Marton heading out along the A156 to Torksey Lock, returning to the finish in Marton.

Gainsborough Aegir results: 1st Trevor Halstead 15:09, 2nd Dave Walker 16:04, 3rd George Carnall 16:17, 4th Pete Hanks 16:36, 5th Pete Comerford 16:40, 6th Dave Chaffey 17:25.

Private Trials (Non Club Members): 1st Matt Hindmarsh 11:42 (Dinnington Road Club), 2nd Andy Lewin 11:43 (Viking Velo), 3rd Liam Hindmarsh 12:05 (Dinnington Road Club juvenile), 3rd Andy Clarke and Arron Watson 12:54 (Viking Vello tandem), 5th Matt Fieldson 15:10 (Viking Velo)

On 6th April the club will host a leisure ride to Walesby in Lincolnshire.

Riders should meet at Roseway, Gainsborough at 8.50am for a medium to long ride.

On 9th April they will compete for the 15 mile and juvenile 8 mile race, starting on Laughton Lane.

Riders should meet at 6.15pm, with the first rider off at 6.30pm.
