A quartet of Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club members braved the cold conditions for a club ride to Retford on Sunday.

Trevor Halstead, Daniel Nicholson, Paul Bacon and Loll Dickenson chose to use salted roads, departing Roseway in Gainsborough towncentre, crossing over Gainsborough Bridge, and following the A631 and A620 to Retford.

After a refreshment stop the riders departed Retford, riding a short distance alongside the Chesterfield Canal before heading along Leverton Road and making the steep climb of Schrog Hill at a height of 91 metres above sea level.

The riders headed homewards passing through North Leverton, Sturton le Steeple, Saundby and Beckingham returning into Gainsborough along the A631.

This Sunday the fourth round of the club’s speed judging event takes place, at Roseway at 9.20am.
