Marshalls Cricket Club have cancelled their weekend matches, after the tragic death of midweek captain Haydn Green.
The 21-year-old died on Tuesday morning, after a suspected asthma attack.
He had been with the Gainsborough club for around seven years, and along with a place in the first team, was captain of the midweek squad.
The club put out a message on their twitter account, saying: “We are devastated to announce the tragic loss of Haydn Green.”
“Words fail us at a time like this – our friend taken far too soon.”
Haydn was due to travel to Corfu in Greece for a holiday later this week and had been training with Marshalls last Friday as normal.
A club statement added: “Thoughts go out to his family.”
