TRINITY Ladies are celebrating after a successful season in Lincs County football.
The Blues finished third in the Lincs Ladies Division North, and won the County Plate final.
In the Plate Trinity first drew the unknown quanty of Bourne, with the away leg resulting in a hard-fought 3-2 win.
The home leg was much easier on the wider Northolme pitch and they won 7-0.
The semi-final was a trip to United ladies of Bottesford and the Blues set up a final against Chapel Swifts with a 5-0 win.
The final was played at Lincoln Utd’s Ashby Avenue ground, and the game went in Gainsborough’s favour.
With Trinity 2-0 up, Swifts were reduced to 10 players following a red card for handball, and by half-time it was 5-0.
In the second half goalkeeper Sam Taylor, playing her last game for Trinity, had very little to do and four more goals for the Blues saw them lift the Plate trophy.
Goalscorers in the final were Abbey Dixon (4), Donna Page (2), Emily Wright, Zoe Hollingsworth and Amy Liddy.
Following their success the team held their presentation night at the Blues Club with the following awards handed out: Most Valuable Club Member – Trev Guilliatt, Most Improved – Zoe Hollingsworth, Manager’s Player of the Year – Deb Hearn-Smith, Top Goalscorer – Donna Page, Players’ Player of the Year – Emily Wright.
