Two more signings added further depth to the Gainsborough Trinity squad this week as pre-season training edges ever closer.
Manager Dominic Roma has brought in teenage defender Ioan Evans and experienced midfielder Gavin Rothery to take the total number of new arrivals to Northolme this summer to nine.
Evans, 19, came through the ranks at Sheffield United and is currently away in Sweden gaining experience as part of the League Football Education programme. He has represented Wales at U16 and U19 level.
He said: “Gainsborough Trinity Football Club are a team going places. I have a great deal of respect for the manager, Dominic Roma. My old boss, Chris Morgan, speaks highly of him and he assures me we are going to be playing football the right way.
“I believe playing for Trinity will give me the perfect platform to play regular football and really showcase my talents. The manager has been busy in the transfer market over the summer and I can’t wait to get in amongst the lads during pre-season and stake a claim for a starting spot come August 6.”
Rothery, meanwhile, has been at National League side Guiseley for the last six seasons and helped them preserve their status in the division in the last campaign.
The 28-year-old began his career at Leeds United where he is currently a youth team coach.
Roma said: “Gavin is an exciting player who was courted by a lot of teams. He can play in a number of attacking positions and gives us plenty of options.
“Our supporters will certainly already be familiar with him as he has caused us no end of problems in previous seasons.
“He truly has all the attributes to excite the supporters and having him as part of our set up is definitely a feather in our cap.”
