Everton Cricket Club held its second six-a-side competition on Sunday 26th June and the event was well attended and deemed a massive success by the organising committee.
The weather behaved, providing a scorching day as eight local sides battled it out to be crowned winners of the six-a-side competition and pick up a cool £300 in the process.
In the end, Everton’s Oldies came out on top after beating Tickhill in a tense final that finally swung in Everton’s favour when Jon Mimms hit Ally Skinner for 21 runs in an over.
Thanks to the efforts and support of all involved the club raised over £1,600 on the day which far exceeded the target of £1,000.
In particular the club would like to acknowledge the event’s co-sponsors the Eldred Group Limited, Major Oak Kitchens and Joinery, and BBH Prometals.
Many local companies kindly donated prizes for the raffle while numerous individuals provided their support on the day voluntarily to help with scoring, umpiring, music and refreshments.
The club intends to continue its fundraising activities throughout the season and then consider its options in the close season, and maybe by the start of next season Everton Cricket Club may be the proud owners of a brand new pavilion!
