Exciting plans to transform disused Council buildings on Carlton Road into an arts and crafts centre and ‘creative hub’ have been revealed.
Consisting of over 50 retail tenants and a vintage tearoom, the Carlton House Vintage, Arts and Crafts Centre is on target to open in February.
The Centre promises to offer locals and visitors a place to learn a new skill, buy items, sell items and be part of a creative community.
Louise Anderson, 35, from Sheffield, said she ‘fell in love’ with the Grade II listed building and could think of no reason not to set up an Arts and Crafts Centre there.
Said Louise: “The beautiful Grade II former council offices is the perfect building for this business, with dramatic features, an internal courtyard and stables.”
“I want to support new businesses in taking their first step in the industry, and create a positive and exciting experience for the residents of Worksop- there will also be free parking.”
Businsesses to open at the Centre include Wortley Vintage and Craft Shop, Vintage Sweethearts and The Pretty Little Keepsakes Company.
This week, Worksop residents took to social media to show their support for the new development.
Linzi Crowther said: “This can only be a good thing with more promising businesses moving into the area.”
“A good idea worth supporting,” said Grant Cullen.
Fran Harvey said: “I’m relatively new to Worksop and have admired this building each time I’ve passed. I’m so glad to hear that its going to be used in this way. I look forward to a visit!”
The Carlton House Vintage, Arts and Crafts Centre will be located at 36-36 Carlton Road.
