IMAGINE sitting in the beautiful grounds of Belton House, near Grantham, with rousing music from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and an array of Second World War aircraft flying overhead.
This spectacle is promised by this summer’s Belton Spitfire Proms on Saturday 16th June 2012, and YOU could be there.
We’ve teamed up with the National Trust, which owns the house, to offer readers the chance to win a pair of tickets.
The event will not only feature a Spitfire plane from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but also a sensational close-formation air display by the Blades.
Excitement builds as the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performs its opening overtures and the crowd cast their eyes to the horizon to catch a glimpse of the WWII Spitfire.
As it flies into view it will conduct a low-level fly-past above the poplar-lined avenue leading to the house, before returning to perform a dazzling display of horseshoe turns, rolls and loops.
But the spectacle won’t stop there. During the interval the Blades, four Extra 300 lightweight aerobatic aircraft, piloted by former Red Arrows pilots, will take to the skies to perform an exhilarating close-formation display.
Alec Gordon, general manager for Lincolnshire National Trust, said: “The sight of an RAF BBMF Spitfire appearing over the tree line as the first notes sounds is heart rendering and signals that the audience is in for another thrilling evening at the Belton Spitfore Proms.”
The stage for the Belton Spitfire Proms is on the oval in front of the main house providing a spectacular backdrop for the event. The evening concludes with a fantastic firework display.
Seating is not provided so people can bring picnic rugs and chairs, and their own picnics. Umbrellas, gazebos and BBQs are restricted.
Advance tickets cost £29 adults, £20 children and £98 family, or £34, £25 and £103 on the gate. Group rates available. Under fives go free.
