Update: Teenager has been released from hospital after being stabbed

A teenage girl who was stabbed while she was standing at a bus stop in Heaton Street, Gainsborough, this morning (Tuesday) has been released from hospital.

Police were alerted just before 7am and attended the scene, where a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident.

He is currently in custody and will be interviewed in due course.

The victim, a 17-year-old local girl, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment and has now been released.

DI Suzanne Davies, who is investigating the incident, said: “I am pleased to report that the victim is now at home with her family after being treated for a stab wound at hospital.”

“Clearly the injuries could have been significantly worse.”

“The suspect remains in custody and he will be interviewed during the course of the day.”

“If anyone was at the bus stop in Heaton Street, Gainsborough, at around 6.50am this morning, even if they did not see anything, they are urged to contact my investigation team here at Lincoln Police Station.”
