Choirs, crafts and a summer fair are on the agenda at an upcoming community arts festival, hosted by St Anne’s Church.

St Anne’s Arts Festival will run from Monday, July 2 until Sunday, July 8.

The festival was inspired by new vicar at St Anne’s Reverend David Gough, or Rev Dave as he is more commonly known by church-goers.

He said: “The support and enthusiasm we have received in the build up to our festival has been incredible. We’ve assembled a week of events to bring together people of all ages and celebrate the wonderful community we have in and around St Anne’s.”

Arty activities include Crafts and Cream Teas on Wednesday, a family-focused Messy Church on Sunday and a Meet and Eat social event on Friday.

Set to be the showstopper of the festival is a Night at the Movies, when a “touch of Hollywood” will arrive in town as six local choirs including St Anne’s School Choir come together to perform favourite songs from films.

Clare Middleton, headteacher at St Anne’s Primary said: “This concert is set to be something special and I’m encouraged that so many of our shared St Anne’s friends and families will be there to support them on the night.”

A summer fair is scheduled on Saturday with entertainment both inside and around the church grounds.

Art work produced by St Anne’s school children will also be on display, alongside the work of local artist and Bassetlaw District Council chairman Madelaine Richardson.

Coun Richardson said: “It is an honour to be part of this community event at the church and help the children produce a display of their own artwork.”
