The family and friends of Callum Wilkinson took part in a tree planting ceremony in his memory this morning (Saturday).
Callum, 15, died on Friday when the bike he was riding was involved in a collision with a lorry in London Road just after 8am.
People gathered in King’s Park in Retford for the tree planting.
Led by Retford Mayor Coun Alan Chambers, the planting was also in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the park.
Speaking to the crowd he offered his ‘heartfelt sympathies’ to Callum’s family.
He continued: “We will support you, we will listen to you and if there is anything we can do, don’t hesitate.”
“Retford will unite behind you - we feel your pain and we will be there.”
There was then a minutes silence before Callum’s friends lay flowers for him beneath a tree in the park.
Another tree will be planted for Callum in the coming weeks.
Police are still appealing for information about the accident.
Anyone who saw the collision or has any information is asked to contact Notts Police on 101, quoting incident 105 of 28 June 2013, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
