David Bussey from Radio Lincolnshire came to Gainsborough U3A’s latest meeting to give the talk A Life in Radio.
David explained how radio programmes were composed and how much off air time was needed for each hour of air time.
The technology used sounded interesting, and now emails and social media have enabled audiences to respond immediately to items under discussion, a presenter has to have his wits about him.
The jokes he had collected to use on his programme made us laugh out loud and the hour of his talk seemed to fly by.
The next meeting is on August 11 when the speaker will be by Graham Keal who will give the talk Terry Wogan’s Hair Weave and Other Stories.
Anyone aged 45 or over and not in full-time work is most welcome to join the U3A.
Besides monthly talks, they have a huge variety of interest groups from art and music to curling and croquet.
