Worksop nursery children learn about the life saving work of firefighters

A team of firefighters joined children at Busy Bees Worksop on Celtic Point, to mark Child Safety Week.

Throughout the day children learnt what they should do in an emergency, discussing topics like how to dial 999 and what service to request depending on the emergency.

They were also given the opportunity to climb on board the fire engine, check how the sirens work and where the water comes out of the giant hose pipe.

Emily Atkins, ​nursery manager at Busy Bees Worksop, said: “The children had a great day speaking to the local fire service.

"We want to teach them about the job that firefighters do and the important role they play in our community.

"Child Safety Week is the perfect time to really send the message out about what it is to be a firefighter and teach the children about fire safety in a fun and memorable way.

“The children were so excited when the fire engine rolled up outside our nursery.

"They were able to learn about what it’s like to be a real-life firefighter and understand the important role the emergency services provide.”

Busy Bees Worksop is holding an open week between June 17 and 21, where parents from the local community are welcome to look round the nursery.
