A group of 180 young people from Lincolnshire have been awarded with a certificate signed by the Prime Minister after graduating from the National Citizen Service (NCS), a youth empowerment programme this summer.
Making it extra special, Olympic hockey gold medallist Shona McCallin attended the event to congratulate the teens.
Shona said: “I found it really inspirational learning about NCS and all the wonderful things the young people and mentors do.
“They should be really proud of themselves for contributing to society whilst learning new skills and developing themselves as people.”
Phil Everett, from NCS in Lincolnshire, added: “NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime youth empowerment programme available to all 15 to 17-year-olds.
“For those who missed the summer programme, we are now accepting people on to the autumn programme.”
