Plans to build an 82 bedroom hotel and four retail units have taken a step forward after outline planning permission was granted.
Plans for an 82-bedroom hotel and restaurant on land off High Grounds Road in Worksop were lodged at the beginning of this year.
The proposal also includes four retail units and associated parking, however what the retail units will be are yet to be decided.
The Bassetlaw District Council Planning Committee met on Wednesday, March 28, and outline planning permission for the application was given subject to a set of conditions.
The conditions include that the application for approval of reserved matters must be made not later than three years after the date of this permission and the scale and appearance of the building shall be approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority before any development commences.
Developer Mansion House Group said the site could create “in excess of 35 full time jobs”.
Richard Peel from Mansion House Group said: “It’s positive on the planning. We hope to be able to announce some positive news on the hotel letting in the next few weeks.
“The approval granted was for outline planning so we will be submitting a reserved matters application to Bassetlaw District Council.
“And it will be eight to 12 weeks before we have the balance of the information.”
This development will be built alongside alongside another complex which includes a gym, KFC, Costa and Taco Bell.
Previously Mr Peel said: “The site to the north, which has recently been granted consent for the proposed Gym, KFC, Costa and Taco Bell is being developed by Chicken Villas Ltd. and unrelated to ourselves albeit we are supportive of this approval and development as the overall enlarged scheme will have significant economic and amenity benefits to the area.”
Mr Peel said work could start “by the third quarter of 2018”.
