First Contact Signpost Scheme
The First Contact scheme uses a simple checklist to help people aged 60 or over receive services to keep them safe and independent in their own homes. If a staff member from any of the partner agencies, such as a firefighter, police officer or volunteer, goes into an older person’s home, they will complete a checklist to find out if they have any other needs for:
· A home security check
· Any repairs or mobility adaptations that need doing in the home
· Energy-saving improvements to keep warm and reduce energy bills
· Confidential advice on any money the householder may be entitled to
· Crime reduction advice
· Signposting to local community transport schemes
· Signposting to local voluntary and community groups and clubs
· Advice on different types of housing accommodation that may be available.
For more information please contact: Jayne Bullock at Bassetlaw Action Centre on 01777 709650 or e-mail: email@example.com. The Misterton Centre is affiliated to BAC so information is also available there – call in or ring 891872.
Bassetlaw Community Car Scheme
Is available to Bassetlaw residents, who are unable to access any other forms of public transport. It is a door-to-door service; volunteer drivers will allow you one hour then take you home. If you know you are going to be more than an hour, there will be an additional charge for these journeys.
In order to use the scheme, you must register. Three to four days’ notice is needed when booking a journey.
Please contact the Community Car Scheme Co-ordinator at Bassetlaw Action Centre for further details: tel 01777 709650, email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Misterton Centre is affiliated to BAC so enquiries can also be made there – call 891872.
Bassetlaw Food Bank
Bassetlaw Food Bank invites all friends and supporters to its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 17 June at 3pm at The Well, Hospital Road, Retford. Afternoon tea will be served so to assist catering, please RSVP by Monday 8th June: call Secretary, Morag Turner on 01709 798115 or e-mail email@example.com. Over 900 bags of provisions have gone to Bassetlaw Food Bank from Misterton and surrounding villages.

Donations points are in All Saints’ Church and the Cycle Barn, Grovewood Road. Those unable to donate food items might like to consider a one-off or regular cash donation.
Members of the food bank team will supply account details – call 01777 710858. They are also happy to come and talk to local groups.
Doncaster Road Closure
Doncaster Road, Westwoodside, will be closed 24hrs a day from Monday 1st June to Sunday 5th July. Official diversion information is A161 north to A18 then west to Hatfield and into Doncaster through Dunsville or via the M18.
Instead of the A18, there’s the minor road that runs south of the motorway through Sandtoft to Hatfield.
Or another alternative: turn left at Tindall Bank crossroads (1st left after Haxey Gate Inn), following the road round past Park Drain to join the B1396 at the Wroot crossroads, or go to Doncaster via Bawtry.
Help fight fly tipping!
Fly-tipping is on the increase: in the last 12 months, Bassetlaw District Council has dealt with 1352 incidents. That’s 112 a month.
So council staff need public support to provide the evidence with which to prosecute fly-tippers. Call Environment Services (01909 533533) to pass on valuable information, such as a vehicle registration number of someone seen dumping their rubbish.
Sunday 31st May, United Benefice Service, Beckingham Church, 10.30am.
Closure of North Carr Level Crossing from 9.30pm on Saturday 23rd May to 9.30am on Wednesday 27th May; then again from 9.30pm on Saturday 30th May to 9.30am on Wednesday 3rd June.
Monday 1st June, Doncaster Road, Westwoodside, closed 24/7 until Sunday 5th July.
