Could you become a Dementia Friend Champion to support people affected by the illness in Lincolnshire?
The Alzheimer’s Society initiative, supported by Lincolnshire County Council, gives people an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do that can make a difference to people living with it.
Currently 99 Lincolnshire residents have registered to become Dementia Friends Champions. Champions then recruit Friends who are asked to ‘make a pledge’ to do something practical to help people living with dementia in their area.
There are Dementia Champion training sessions on 16th January and 11th and 25th February.
Coun Patricia Bradwell, executive councillor for Adult Care, said: “In Lincolnshire, it’s estimated that 10,502 people are currently living with dementia, with that number expected to reach 15,047 by 2021.”
“However, the reality is that a lack of understanding about the symptoms means there could be many more.”
