Hospice charity football tournament hailed a success

In the midst of World Cup fever, a local charity football tournament has raised over £1,300 for a local hospice.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice held its first fundraising five-a-side football tournament on App Frod Sports and Social Club’s 3G pitches at Brumby Hall on Saturday 23 June, with16 local teams competing to lift the 2018 Lindsey Lodge Hospice Winner’s Trophy, which was donated by DNF Trophies Scunthorpe.

Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Andy Hirst said: “The weather couldn’t have been kinder to us, and the competition was equally hot.

“Congratulations to winners ‘Zeera Tike Mo Salah’ sponsored by Zeera Spice Lounge, who took the top spot and runners up Fallen Hero.”

He added: “A huge thank you to everyone who took part for their generous support and to App Frod for allowing us to use their excellent facilities. We all had a great day!”

Lindsey Lodge Hospice provides care to people with any progressive life-limiting illness, and supports their family and carers during illness and into bereavement. It receives only a small percentage of funding from the NHS and relies on fundraising and donations to raise the £3.3 million it needs each year to continue to deliver its care in North Lincolnshire.
