An eagle-eyed member of the public has been praised for helping Lincolnshire Police arrest four people in relation to a tractor theft.

The local man rang police at 8.44pm on Thursday night from a location near Glentworth and reported suspicions around two tractors and another vehicle in the area.

Acting on his information, officers swooped in and arrested four male suspects nearby.

A 22-year-old man, 29-year-old man, 30-year-old man and 26-year-old man are all currently helping police with their enquiries.

Two tractors, believed to have been stolen from the Caenby Corner area, have been recovered.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Regardless of the outcome of the now active criminal investigation, Lincolnshire Police would like to praise the actions of the member of the public, who behaved impeccably in terms of giving the police vital information whilst preserving his own personal safety.”

“His actions are a perfect embodiment of how, when the public and the police work together, real progress can be made in tackling rural crime.”

Officers are asking the public to remain vigilant and to report the suspicious movement of tractors and plant equipment on county roads by calling them on 101.
