FUN was had by all at Misterton’s annual Gala as families flocked to enjoy the events, stalls and games.
“The event lived up to its promise to provide something for everyone,” said resident Hazel Brand.
“Despite a downpour during the arena performance by youngsters of the Everett-Fox School of Dance, the show went on and sunshine returned.”
The winner of the competition to open the event was eight-year-old Jamie, who convinced the competition judge that he should ‘do the honours’.
The £50 first prize in the raffle was won by Will Bishop and winners of the children’s art competition, judged local artist, Roy Pearce, will be presented with their prizes at school.
The display of birds of prey, included an unusual visitor – an Australian kookaburra – and pupils of Be’Dazzled entertained visitors.
Misterton Juniors FC and All Stars Taekwondo put on displays, and Notts Fire and Rescue showed the dangers of a chip pan fire.
The First Responders showed how to do resuscitation – and recruited new volunteers.
Hazel continued: “Many thanks to all who supported the event, exhibitors and visitors – and to the organising team.”
She added: “The proceeds of the Gala will go to local good causes. If you’re interested in helping organise next year’s event, call Hazel on 01427 891376.”
Next year’s Gala will be held on Saturday 7th July.
