The school runs an exchange programme each year with their twin town Cham in Germany and wanted to showcase to their visitors what Gainsborough had to offer before they returned home.

A buffet lunch was followed by a talk about the history and heritage of the yard, why it’s such an integral part of the town’s landscape and what the centre is now in terms of its position within the local community and how the work of Dransfield Properties, developers and managing agents for the centre, continues to regenerate the area.

Alison Shipperbottom, centre manager for Marshall’s Yard, said: “The students were all challenged to take their Gainsborough ‘factoid’ drinks mats and photograph them in the most exotic place they could think and we certainly hope to see some brilliant photos on social media in the coming weeks.”

“All stakeholders in the town are working extremely hard to push Gainsborough to reach its full potential – it’s never been such an exciting time to promote our town to existing Gainsborough young people and visitors, at whatever opportunity we get.”

David Allsop, head teacher at the school, said: “It was an honour to be able to show our visitors from Germany the quality of retail experience we have available in the town.

“I would like to thank Alison and all of the team for hosting our visit”
