The World Cup is here and we want to know what your are doing to celebrate or get involved with the biggest football show on earth.

This year’s tournament is in Brazil, a nation that needs no excuse to have a party and the samba beat will pound away throughout the tournament.

And the locals may well have plenty to celebrate as the host nation, the most successful in World Cup history, are hot favourites to win the title for the sixth time.

But while many of us may not be able to go to Brazil, we can certainly bring the atmosphere of Brazil to us as we cheer on the England or whichever team we want to win.

And here at the Standard, we want to know what you are up to, to get fully into the latest case of football fever that will sweep over the nation, particularly if England start doing rather better than expected.

The Three Lions are not being tipped to do that well this time around with a a young inexperienced squad and a tough group to get out of with four-times winner Italy their first opponents.

But that won’t stop thousands of fans flocking to the pubs and bars to watch the games or holding World cup parties at home to get in the mood.

We want you to send us your pictures of your World Cup event or you and your mates cheering England on as they take on Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica in their group games.

And if you are supporting another nation in Brazil, then send us your pictures of that too.

The more the merrier and it will add to the huge splash of colour holding a tournament like this in Brazil will create.

Local schools, what are you doing for the World Cup?

Are you having a special project or doping special events for the games such as wearing your England shirts to school when the Three Lions are playing?

Have you all adopted different teams to support through the tournament?

Again, send us some pictures of you and your school getting involved in the World Cup.

Likewise, local businesses, will you be having the world World Cup on in your office when England are playing?

If so, get the camera out and send us a picture to the Standard’s usual email address at

The World Cup kicks off tomorrow night (Thursday) with the opening ceremony, followed by hosts Brazil up against Croatia (9pm kick-off UK time) before defending champions Spain face the Netherlands on Friday in a repeat of the 2010 final.
